We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. FTTP, or full fibre, is the future of connectivity in the UK.

As stop sell begins to take effect, demand for FTTP will hit unprecedented levels. Those providers able to respond will have rich pickings to choose from, while those unable or unwilling to meet that demand will be faced with a declining, finite market.

With millions of premises due to become ‘full fibre only’ in the next couple of years, this really is serious business. And if you think this is something for the future, you might be interested to hear that the latest thinkbroadband statistics put current UK ultrafast coverage at just over 66 per cent. In other words, this is a present phenomenon that will only become greater.

The message?

In case we weren’t clear enough. It’s time to get on the FTTP wagon.

Meeting the demand

It’s one thing to recognise the trends and acknowledge the demand. But how do you ensure that you’re best placed to take that early adopter advantage and become a full fibre provider of choice, for your customers and potential customers alike?

It all starts with choosing the right provider, which leads to a quick word about us!

We connected our first FTTP circuit more than ten years ago, and now around 60 per cent (and growing) of Zen partners are buying ultrafast from us, with an increasing number choosing our 500Mbps and 900Mbps connections.

Our real-world experience in providing full fibre dates back to 2010, and we’re continually investing in and improving our network to make sure we have more than adequate capacity to meet the massive increase in demand that ubiquitous full fibre coverage will bring.

In other words, we know what we’re doing, and because we’re an independent, people-first provider, you can trust that we’ll always act in your best interests.

Making the case

But enough about us. You’re here to find out why full fibre is so important.

The reasons are many, but here are a few:

Future-proofing – There’s lots of talk around loyalty and the switchers market, and when it comes to FTTP this has never been more important. Because full fibre is so reliable, users are less inclined to switch. And that presents a simple challenge…

Providing your customers - and prospective customers - with fast, reliable, future-proof connections today means that you’re likely to retain them for the long term. The alternative – not taking advantage of the full fibre opportunity – means potentially losing those customers to providers that will. And because those customers are likely to be less inclined to switch afterwards, that could mean missing out in the long term.

Cross and upsell – Equipping your customers with ultrafast, ultra-reliable full fibre connections can have positive knock-on effects. As we’ve previously mentioned, getting them signed up now means they’re likely to be with you for the long term. And loyal customers are easier to sell additional services to. That might be a SIP service, for example, that uses the underlying full fibre connection for high quality voice calls.

With faster, more reliable connections, they’ll be better placed to take advantage of emerging technologies as they appear, presenting you with ongoing opportunities to upsell from your portfolio.

Customer experience – Don’t underestimate the power of an enhanced customer experience. Full fibre is likely to mean fewer support calls, lower fault rates and more stable performance.

But beyond the direct benefits, there are also the additional benefits like a lower cost alternative to Ethernet and the raft of services that are enhanced by full fibre connectivity (think of hosted telephony, cloud migration, extending WAN connections to a remote workforce, etc.).

Cementing your value – As a trusted provider, you’ll play a key role in supporting your end users; from configuration and choosing the right equipment to helping customers stitch together their various IT services. As you present your expertise across a range of services, you’ll provide trusted support and insight. Do a good job, and you’ll become indispensable!
