Things to know

Mail Client Configuration

Please note that the settings shown above can be used with both secure and non-secure connections and are applicable to both IMAP and POP3 account types.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)

IMAP synchronises your email application with the mail server. This means that actions such as reading, deleting, moving, or replying to messages are reflected across all devices and the server itself. As a result, your mailbox remains consistent regardless of where you access it.

POP3 (Post Office Protocol Version 3)

POP3 works differently and does not synchronise email activity with the mail server. Emails are typically downloaded to the local device, and actions such as marking messages as read, deleting them, or replying will only be reflected within the mail application. Consequently, future downloads may show messages as unread when viewed elsewhere.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)

Outgoing email is sent using SMTP, regardless of whether you are using IMAP or POP3 to receive mail.

Recommendation: We strongly recommend using IMAP over SSL/TLS or POP3 over SSL/TLS, as these secure protocols encrypt communication between your device and the mail server, providing greater protection for your email data and account credentials.

Important Support Information

The settings provided in this guide are intended to help you configure a compatible email application. However, Zen does not provide direct support for the installation, configuration, or troubleshooting of third-party email clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or mobile email applications.

As email clients vary significantly between vendors, versions, operating systems, and devices, we may be unable to provide step-by-step assistance for individual applications.

If you experience issues while configuring your email client, we recommend:

  • Verifying that the server settings entered match those shown in this guide.
  • Consulting the documentation or support resources provided by the software vendor.
  • Contacting your IT support provider if you use a managed business environment.

Zen Support can assist with confirming your mailbox settings and checking the status of your email service, but the configuration and ongoing management of third-party email applications remains the responsibility of the user or their IT administrator.

If you do need Zen Support, feel free to contact our Web Hosting team.
