Introducing FibrePlus: when standard FTTP isn't enough

Some customers need more assurance than standard FTTP can offer, but don’t need the cost or lead time of a leased line.

They may rely heavily on cloud services, hosted voice or other online systems. They may need a target fix time measured in hours rather than working days. And they may want greater certainty over the bandwidth available when the network is busy.

Available now in The Fibre Hub, FibrePlus gives you another option for these customers.

Delivered over the Freedom Fibre network, FibrePlus combines symmetrical speeds from 150 Mbps to 1 Gbps with assured bandwidth and a choice of three care levels.

Assured bandwidth, not just headline speed

With standard FTTP, customers can access speeds up to the advertised rate, but performance can vary as network demand changes.

Whatever the speed tier, at least 30% of it is assured at all times. That gives customers a reliable baseline for the services they depend on, while still allowing them to use the full headline speed when it’s available.

On the 1 Gbps service, for example, 300 Mbps is assured at all times.

That extra certainty can be particularly useful for customers relying on cloud applications, hosted voice, Microsoft Teams, online backups or other services that need consistent upload and download performance.

Faster fault resolution when the connection matters

For customers that depend on their connection, the repair commitment matters too.

FibrePlus offers three care levels:

That lets you match the level of care to the impact an outage would have – from sites that can tolerate a longer interruption to those where every hour matters.

FibreLife, FibrePlus or a leased line?

FibrePlus sits between Freedom Fibre’s value-focused FTTP service and a fully dedicated connection.

FibreLife remains a good-value choice for homes, sole traders and smaller businesses.

FibrePlus is the step up when the customer needs assured bandwidth, a faster fix time or certain speed guarantees.

A leased line remains the right answer when fully dedicated bandwidth is essential. But where that level of service isn’t needed, FibrePlus offers a more proportionate option.

When should you recommend FibrePlus?

It’s worth considering FibrePlus when:

• The customer depends on cloud, voice or other online systems throughout the working day
• A working-day fault resolution window would cause serious disruption
• The customer regularly handles large uploads, backups or file transfers and needs more consistent performance
• The customer needs a diverse second connection for greater resilience
• A leased line is being considered, but the cost or lead time is difficult to justify

It may also be worth reviewing customers whose requirements have changed since their current service was installed.

A business may have added more people, moved systems into the cloud or become more dependent on online tools. Its current FTTP service may still work but no longer provide the level of assurance it now needs.
