The order can be the easy part of a broadband migration. It’s what happens at the customer site that often creates the work.
Router credentials may need changing. Equipment may need replacing. Customers may need help reconfiguring their setup. And where remote access isn’t possible, an engineer visit may be the only practical option.
For one service, that’s an inconvenience. Across a larger estate, it can become a complex, time-consuming job.
That’s why we’ve launched Simple Switch.
Keep the router. Move the service
Simple Switch allows eligible broadband services to move to Zen without changing the PPP username and password already stored on the customer’s router.
Instead, we identify the broadband circuit at network level and match it to the migration order placed through The Fibre Hub.
The result is simple: the service moves to Zen, while the router can stay as it is.
That means:
- No router reconfiguration
- No router swap
- No engineer visit just to upgrade equipment
- No customer reconfiguration
- Less work for your team
And for customers, there’s less to do and less disruption at their site.
How does Simple Switch work?
The existing router continues presenting the credentials already configured on it.
We identify the physical broadband circuit and match it to a valid migration order in The Fibre Hub before authenticating the service at network level. Once the migration completes, the service typically authenticates on Zen in minutes, with IP addressing applied as normal.
That means authentication remains tied to a specific circuit and a legitimate order.
The router simply needs to support PPPoE and already be set up to use it. There’s no need to change the credentials stored on the device.
Simple Switch doesn’t change the wider migration process. Standard eligibility rules, industry processes, lead times, notice periods and carrier requirements still apply.
What changes is what happens at the router – or rather, what no longer needs to happen.
Built into The Fibre Hub
Simple Switch is built into The Fibre Hub, our self-service wholesale broadband platform.
It sits within the standard migration journey and is enabled by default for eligible orders. There’s no separate Simple Switch order type or additional platform to manage.
The Fibre Hub gives partners one place to check availability, place and track orders, manage live services and access support across multiple networks.
For larger migrations, you can use the standard bulk CSV import process, with up to 500 services supported in each batch. Larger portfolios can be split across multiple batches and managed through the same process.
Simple Switch is the latest step in our work to make The Fibre Hub simpler and more useful for partners. You can read more about how we’re expanding The Fibre Hub and making connectivity simpler for partners.
Available across a choice of networks
Simple Switch is available for eligible wholesale broadband migrations across Zen on-net services, CityFibre, Freedom Fibre, Trooli and MS3.
Off-net services can also be supported through a manual process. If you’re planning a larger or off-net migration, speak to us early and we’ll help you work through the move.
Simple Switch is free to use, with no licence fees, per-circuit charges or additional migration costs. Standard service charges still apply, including charges for any additional IP addresses.
