As the year draws to a close, it feels like a good time to pause and reflect. Not with big announcements or bold claims, but with a quiet look back at another big year for Zen, and for the people who choose us.
When we look back at 2025, we realise that it’s been a year of milestones. Things we’re immensely proud of. But it’s also been a year where we stayed truer than ever to what Zen has always been about.
Here’s a look back on 2025 at Zen.
We first started trading on 13 October 1995, making us the UK’s oldest independent internet service provider. What matters just as much is that we’re still operating in our original form – independent, customer-focused and doing things the Zen way.
We marked the anniversary earlier in the year, but it’s worth reflecting on what it really means. Thirty years isn’t about looking backwards. It’s about trust built over time. It’s about customers who’ve stayed with us for years, and others who’ve joined more recently because they were looking for something reliable, fair and refreshingly straightforward.
In an industry that moves quickly, and often not in the most stable or reliable way, we’re proud to still be here – and to still feel like Zen.
In 2025, we also shared our purpose more clearly than ever before:
Do right for people and planet.
This wasn’t a sudden change of direction. It was a natural evolution of what Zen has always stood for. A way of putting into words the values that already guide our decisions – from how we support our customers, to how we think about sustainability, fairness and long-term impact.
Why does it matter now? Because the choices businesses make today have lasting consequences. For people. For communities. For the environment. These are all big things that can feel insurmountable at times. Our purpose helps us keep focused on doing the right thing, even when it’s not the easiest decision.
This year, Zen was named the PC Pro Best Broadband ISP for the 22nd consecutive year,, while also picking up PC Pro’s inaugural Digital Voice award. We were recognised once again as a Which? Recommended Broadband Provider for the fifth year running, and named Which? Utilities Brand of the Year 2025.
Now while we love receiving awards (who wouldn’t?), we see them as something far more important than trophies in a cabinet. They’re the independent reassurance we need that our approach still works. And that putting customers first, year after year, really does make a difference.
Behind the scenes, we’ve continued to grow our fibre footprint by partnering with network providers like Openreach, CityFibre, Trooli and Freedom Fibre, with more to come. As a result, Zen full fibre is now available to nearly 23 million addresses across the UK!
What does that mean for customers? More choice. More people able to access faster, more reliable connections – without having to compromise on service or values.
It’s the kind of progress that again says: “we’re in this for the right reasons”.
The broadband market has been as busy as ever in 2025. Short-term deals, shifting prices and ever-changing offers can make it hard to know where you stand.
Through it all, our approach has stayed the same. Clear pricing, no surprises, and a focus on long-term value. Commitments like our Contract Price Promise are part of that, helping customers to feel confident about what they’re signing up to.
Because sometimes, doing things the right way simply means staying consistent.
As we head into a new year, we’ll keep expanding access to full fibre. We’ll continue supporting the move towards digital voice and modern broadband connections. And we’ll keep letting our purpose guide our decision making.
And finally, whether you’ve been with us for decades or only recently found your Zen, we want to say a genuine thank you to you, our customers.
Your trust is what allows us to keep doing things the way we believe they should be done. So here’s to the year ahead, and to staying connected – the Zen way.
