Why we’re celebrating small businesses all month long

Because one day isn’t enough.

Each December, the UK celebrates the incredible contribution of small businesses through Small Business Saturday – a day that shines a light on the independent shops, cafés, makers and service providers that keep our communities thriving.

Whether you run one or rely on one, small businesses matter to all of us. And this year’s celebrations take place on 6 December.

But we don’t think a single day is enough to celebrate everything that our local small businesses mean to us. So this year, we’re recognising them for the whole of December as part of our #ZenSmallBusinessTakeover.

Why small businesses matter

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our high streets and local economies – and we work with thousands of them every day.

They’re the people behind the counter, the friendly voices on the phone, the people that keep our streets and homes running, and the faces that make up the fabric of our towns.

At Zen, we see their determination up close and know how much they mean to the people they serve. From the café that knows your order to the family-run shop that always goes the extra mile, these businesses make life brighter for everyone around them.

This December, we’re turning our social channels into a force for good – to shine a light on the small business you love most.

We’ll also be picking three businesses at random from the nominations to receive a £100 voucher – a small token of our appreciation that they can use to treat their hardworking teams this festive season.
