Merry Christmas

07 December 2009: Zen donates to chosen charity, Rochdale Children's Moorland Home.

For the past five years Zen Internet has made a donation to local charities instead of sending Christmas cards to customers, partners and suppliers.

Rochdale Children's Moorland Home has been selected as our chosen charity for 2010. This Christmas we have therefore decided to buy a karaoke machine for the children as well as make a cash donation towards a much needed tumble dryer to help towards the mountain of bedding that needs to be dried every week.

Beryl Varley, Chairperson, Rochdale Children's Moorland Home Commitee said:

These gifts are welcomed by the Home as we rely on the generosity and support of the local community and businesses.

Rochdale Children's Moorland Home was originally set up in 1894 by a group of Rochdale businessmen to provide holidays for underprivileged children.

In 1921 a prominent Rochdale family donated Nab Farm to the committee together with some 14 acres of moorland. This is still the charity's home today, where they provide free holidays for about 350 children each year. The running costs are met in some measure by income from investments, but they mainly rely on charitable donations and fundraising events.

In 2010 Zen's Socials and Charities team will be organising employee events to raise money for the charity to help them provide outings to parks, appropriate places of entertainment and interest, plus the running costs of the Home.

We are sure the children will have a lot of fun with the karaoke machine this Christmas. We are always keen to work with the local community and are looking forward to working with the Home to raise money for the holidays they provide for many children in the local area.
