We will always offer you the best speed possible on your line and we've signed up to Ofcom's Voluntary Code of Practice: Broadband Speeds. However, download speeds can vary and the actual download speed will fall within a range. This is an indication of the speed that lines like yours have achieved for their broadband service; generally within 1-2 Mbps higher or lower than your "typical speed" estimate.

The actual speed is dependent on several factors e.g.

  • the product option you choose
  • the number and speed of devices using your connection at the same time
  • whether you use a wireless or wired connection
  • the speed of the websites that you visit
  • time of day - speeds can be lower at peak times (evenings and weekends)

In the first 10 days you may notice your speed go up and down as we test your line's reliability for the most stable speed. You should leave your broadband router on during this time.

Estimates based on post codes only (rather than a telephone number) are less accurate and should be treated with caution. Where we are able to provide a date for future fibre optic broadband availability, it is indicative only and subject to change. More about broadband speeds
