Powering our new data centre

Just in case you had missed our news, we are investing £4million in a new purpose built, state of the art data centre here at our Headquarters in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The data centre will house a range of hosting services from Dedicated Servers and Managed Hosting to Cloud Hosting and Colocation.

In building a data centre, as you can imagine a lot of work goes on internally, behind the scenes – installing additional wiring, upgrading climate control systems & state of the art security systems.

But we have recently seen a very tangible and visual part of the data centre build, the delivery of our standby power generation and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) units.

Waiting for the DRUPS to arrive

Our N+1 standby power generation and uninterruptible power will be supplied by Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supplies (DRUPS) ensuring Zen’s hosting customers will get 100% power availability even in the event of a mains or national grid failure.

Richard Tang, Managing Director, Zen Internet said

“Our mission is to provide the best ISP service in the UK. Translating our mission into action requires us to continually improve every aspect of what we do. This latest investment represents a significant improvement to our business, making a world class data centre available to our customers, and backing it up with an industry-leading level of support and service”

We chose the Euro-Diesels NO-BREAK KS® DRUPS for their power quality, robustness and reliability. They are so efficient that hospitals, banks, airports & air traffic control towers all use Euro-Diesels NO-BREAK KS® DRUPS as their backup power source.

This is why i recommend Zen. Windmills, batteries and solar panels are all well and good but a Vee16 power unit is reassuringly solid. Any chance of an ‘open day’ visit.

    2. Mitch says:

      Absolutely agree Gary.

Don’t have need for a dedicated server or website hosting just now but based on my experience of being a Zen ADSL broadband customer along with reading this, Zen would be my only choice.
