Cycling for Sport Relief
Here at Zen we know how important charity is and we like to do our bit.
Last Friday a team of 23 employees cycled for Sport Relief by keeping the wheels of an exercise bike spinning for five hours. Each employee cycled for between 10 and 15 minutes to try and cover as much distance as possible…over the five hours we managed to cycle a fantastic 155.11 kilometres.
For employees not cycling they had the opportunity to take part in our sweepstake. The winner closest to the distance covered by the riders won the draw and £138 was donated to Sport Relief. We also encouraged employees to come into work donning their favourite sportswear – luckily there wasn’t much lycra!
The day got everyone involved, whether they were cycling, buying a sweepstake ticket or simply wearing their favourite sportswear.
A member of our Technical Support team also offered to have his hair shaved off if we could raise a further £250 for Sport Relief. Everyone put their hands in their pockets, and after raising in excess of £300 everyone gathered round to watch Paul lose his locks.
We are committed to our local community and like to support local charities. This year we are raising money for Boomerang, a multi sensory play centre in Bury.
Boomerang was founded in November 2007 by a group of parents and carers of disabled children in the Bury area. The Sensory Play Centre includes a Sensory room, a state-of-the-art interactive learning area and a Soft Play room that helps to develop skills including cause and effect together with colour and number recognition.
