Zen Keeps Growing and Growing!

27 February 2006: Zen Internet, a multi-award winning Internet Service Provider (ISP) is now being nominated for awards for a different reason - not just for the quality broadband and satisfied customers that it has become renowned for, but also happy staff! It has shown success in providing a fantastic environment and development opportunities for its employees.

The company has recently been short-listed for an Employer Award at the Greater Manchester Employer Coalition Awards 2006 in the SME Employer of the Year category. The winners are due to be announced in March at an awards dinner at The Renaissance Hotel, Manchester.

This achievement can be attributed to many factors, most importantly that Zen realises people are the key asset in giving the company the excellent reputation it has acquired. This is not just down to the satisfaction of Zen customers, but also staff.

2006 is already proving to be a successful year for Zen after receiving three ISPA Awards (the UK Internet Industry's equivalent of the Oscars) in the categories of: Best Uncontended Service, Best Heavy Business Broadband and Best Business ISP, last week. Success came hot off the heels of a recent win in the 2005 PC Pro Awards where Zen won the prestigious PC Pro Best ISP Broadband award for the second year running.

The Zen mission is to be the Best ISP service in the UK, and the people at the company all contribute to this. The company is constantly expanding, but gives employees the chance to grow with it. Zen's policy is to invest in the best technologies and the best people. This is shown by the company's strong commitment to ongoing training and unlimited opportunities for advancement within the company.

Satisfied staff, who really believe in the company they work for, will filter down to satisfied customers. It is the individual impact that is important, and Zen recognises this. The informal environment of the Zen offices allows creativity to flow, and communication levels are kept to the highest standards even between the three sites the company is now spread across.

Staff levels have risen considerably, from a starting headcount of 4 when Zen was established in 1995, to 22 in 2000 and now to over 200 employees in 2006. This is set to expand further with the completion of the New Headquarters in 2010, an impressive structure which will house over 800 staff in the first phase, moving up to 2,000 members of staff in the later stages of development. Zen is in a position to make serious promises to its employees, through the financial stability it has and the assurance of further expansion through this new building.

Caroline Taylor, Human Resource Manager, Zen Internet, commented:

"The people at Zen help to make our mission statement possible and are the key to providing the best ISP service in the UK. To maintain the focus Zen has on quality, reliability and excellent service levels, we need to ensure that these qualities also apply to staff. Zen recognises that through the development of individuals, the company can continue to grow."
