It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to receive this award. I have fond memories of my time at Salford. It was hard work, but I learnt a lot. I'm very grateful to Salford University for getting me off to a flying start at the beginning of my career, and it's great to see that the university is still going from strength to strength nearly a quarter of a century after I graduated.

PC Pro Awards 2012
Best ISP
We have been awarded the PC Pro Best ISP award for a ninth time.
Zen Internet has laid claim to the PC Pro broadband award for the past nine years, but the company certainly isn't resting on its laurels. The Rochdale-based ISP's scores have improved in every category since last year, which is staggering when you consider it scored 95% or higher for support, reliability and recommended in 2011.
Zen’s premium pricing often harms its value for money score, but even here it has improved from 79% in 2011 to 84% this year.

We have been awarded Which? Recommended Home Phone Provider for the very first time.
Previously only a broadband provider, Zen Internet has launched a standalone home phone service and, with a Customer Score of 79% from our latest survey, it is one of only two full phone service providers to be a Which? Recommended Provider and gets good ratings for value for money and accuracy of bills.

There's a big spread between the best and worst customer scores, with Zen Internet scoring 84% and AOL Broadband limping in last with 28%. Verdict: Pricey, but with a superb customer satisfaction record. Short contracts are a bonus

Best ISP
Over 6,000 readers' responded to the on-line survey after being asked about their ISP's reliability, performance, technical support, customer and overall satisfaction.
Zen achieved 98.9% for Reliability, 92.2% for Performance (download speeds), 99.4% Technical Support, 98.8% Customer Satisfaction and 98.9% Overall Satisfaction. Also 97.6% would Recommend Zen to a friend. This gives Zen the highest scores in the survey in five out of the six categories.

Revealing five stars for reliability, customer service and technical support this is our thirteenth Which? Recommended Provider status in the last eight years.
The survey was based on results of an online survey of nearly 12,000 Which? online panels members about their broadband experiences to find the best providers. The customer satisfaction score (as a percentage) is based on overall satisfaction and their likelihood to recommend the ISP to a friend.

We operate in an incredibly competitive market place that is increasingly dominated by suppliers with very aggressive pricing policies. At Zen we have remained focussed on providing quality products backed by excellent customer service and believe that this provides real value for our customers.

Zen's recommended broadband status revealed five stars for reliability, connection speed, customer service and technical support.
Zen Internet is the best – it has retained the top spot in our survey for the fifth time in a row. It might not win hearts and minds when it comes to value – but it was awarded five stars for every other aspect of its service and received an overall customer score of 84%.

We have once again recevied a Best Buy from Which? This is the sixth time we have topped the satisfaction tables in the last five years.
Which? sent out their biggest ever ISP survey to all 28,373 members on the Which? online panel in May 2008. 18876 members responded making it the biggest broadband satisfaction survey in the UK.
