Call Features - Thomson TG784

0845 058 9000

Using your Thomson TG784 hardware

There are various call features available when you are using the Thomson TG784, including 3 Party Calling, Life Line Fail Over and Call Hold. Further details of how to use all of the features can be found below.

In the examples below 'R' could also be the 'Recall' button on your phone.

Life Line Failover

If you lose connection to our Voice server then your calls will be re-routed over your PSTN line thereby enabling you to continue to make and receive telephone calls.

Please Note

  • You must connect your PSTN line directly into the Thomson TG784 in order to enable life line fail over.
  • If you have your plugged your PSTN line directly into the PSTN port on the back of the 784, then 999/112 emergency calls, as well as numbers beginning 09 and 1 (with the exception of 141) will automatically be routed over the PSTN.
  • If you have not plugged your PSTN line into the PSTN port on the 784, then you will not be able to make calls to numbers beginning 09/1 (with the exception of 141.) If you have not connected the PSTN line to the PSTN port, then we will endeavour to connect 999/112 calls, but there may be issues with location information or caller display. You may need to read out your phone number and your location to the emergency operator. In this situation we advise that you do not route emergency calls over Zen's voice network.
  • Calls to numbers beginning 09 and 1 will be routed over the PSTN line and are subject to charges levied by your telecoms provider.
  • If the voice light on the front of the 784 is illuminated then the Voice service is active. If the light is not illuminated then all calls will be routed over the PSTN line.
  • If the voice light on the front of the SpeedTouch flashes when you make a call then the call is being routed over Zen’s Voice network.
  • If the voice light on the front of the SpeedTouch disappears when you make a call then the call is being routed over PSTN line and the call will be charged by your existing phone operator.

Multiple Lines

You can make two simultaneous out-bound calls over a single line.

Please Note

  • Two touchtone telephones must be connected to the Thomson TG784.
  • You cannot call two numbers that are both routed over the PSTN line (i.e. two calls to 09 numbers).
  • You can only receive one in-bound call at a time – unless the caller is also on Zen’s Voice network, in which case two simultaneous in-bound calls can be received.

PSTN Selection

You can choose to route specific calls over your PSTN line. Simply dial *9* before dialling the number that you wish to ring.

Please Note

  • This works on a call by call basis so you will need to dial the above code every time you wish to route a call over the PSTN line.
  • If you have opted to route a call over the PSTN, the voice light will stay solid green whilst the call is in progress. If a VoIP call is being made, the green light will flash on and off whilst the call is in progress.

Caller ID Withheld

You can withhold your number from caller ID display. To do this simply dial 141 before making the call.

Please Note

  • This works on a call by call basis so you will need to dial the above code every time you wish to prevent your number from being displayed.

Call Hold

You can put a call on hold and then revert back to the call when necessary.

  • Call Person A
  • Dial R to put the call with Person A on hold
  • Dial R, 1 to retrieve the call with Person A

Please Note

  • You can only put a caller on hold if you have instigated the call. You can not put an in-bound call on hold.
  • You cannot put calls routed over the PSTN line (09 numbers) on hold.

Enquiry Call

You can put a call on hold, make a second call and then revert back to the original call.

  • Call Person A
  • Dial R to put the call with Person A on hold and wait for the dial tone
  • Call Person B and wait for them to pick-up
  • Dial R to switch back to Person A and put Person B on hold
  • To end the call with either Person A or Person B simply press R, 0

Please Note

  • You need to instigate both calls to enable this feature. Enquiry call does not work with in-bound calls.
  • Both calls must be routed over the Zen Broadband Voice service. This feature does not work with calls routed over the PSTN line (i.e. you can’t conduct enquiry calls with calls to 09 numbers).

3 Party Calling

To set up a conference call with person A and person B:

  • Call Person A (who picks up the phone)
  • Dial R (Person A is automatically put on hold)
  • Wait for the dial tone and dial the number of Person B (who picks up the phone)
  • Dial R, 3 to enable the three-way call
  • You can put BOTH callers on hold by pressing R. To retrieve both calls press R, 3

Please Note

  • You must instigate both calls to enable this feature
  • Both calls (to Person A & Person B) must be routed over Zen's Voice network
  • 3 party calling is not compatible with calls made over the PSTN line (i.e. 09 numbers)
  • You will be billed for 2 separate calls - one to person A and one to person B

Voicemail

You can connect your existing answer machine to the service to receive voicemail. Alternatively, you can use Zen Broadband Voice in conjunction with BT’s 1571 service.

  • Dial **61* on your connected telephone handset
  • Then enter your complete telephone with area code (please omit the first zero from your area code and replace it with a 7 – for example 0161 becomes 7161)
  • Dial # to finish

Now that you have set-up the Voice mail service you will need to activate it so that messages are left on your current answering service.

  • To activate the voicemail feature you will need to dial *61
  • To deactivate the voicemail feature you will need to dial #61
  • If you de-activate the Voicemail service then your on-net callers will never reach voicemail

Please Note

  • If you have your own answer phone then you will need to plug your PSTN line into the answer phone and then the answer phone into the Thomson TG784 to ensure that calls to all phones are picked up.
  • You would need to set up the 1571 service with BT, or have your own answer phone.
  • The change in ring-tone to denote a message has been received via 1571 is not currently available. You will proactively need to check for messages.

Please note:
Zen will endeavour to connect 999/112 Emergency calls across our Voice network, but we cannot guarantee that they will be connected and we recommend that emergency calls are routed over the PSTN, thereby ensuring that these calls have the highest chance of connecting possible. Numbers starting 1 and 09 are NOT carried by Zen Broadband Voice. To enable calls to 999/112 and number beginning 1 and 09 to be routed over the PSTN you are advised to purchase a Zen recommended Thomson TG784. This device provides a connection for your PSTN line thereby allowing such calls to be made via your existing telecom provider. UK landlines with an 01, 02 or 03 prefix, mobile telephone numbers, International numbers, non-geographic local and national numbers are carried by Zen Broadband Voice. Zen Broadband Voice calls count towards ADSL usage allowance. If you reach your ADSL cap, all calls will be routed over the PSTN and you will need to pay all charges to your current telecoms supplier. In order to sign-up to Zen Broadband Voice you will be required to pay via direct debit for all recurring services that you have with Zen Internet, though your first months' service payment can be paid by credit or debit card (This only applies to Non credit account customers). Zen Internet can not guarantee service compatibility with third-party hardware devices that haven’t been purchased from, or configured by, Zen Internet.
